Johnny Cleans Windows

Five standards, in writing

The Same-Hands Standard

One man, one price, no surprises. Everything below is written down so you can hold me to it, and every one of the five names a thing I will actually do rather than a feeling I hope you have.

The standard

All five, in full

  1. 01

    The same hands, every time.

Johnny is the only person who will ever be on your property. No crews, no subcontractors, no different technician next visit. You get the same standard every time because you get the same person every time.

  2. 02

Screens and tracks are included, not extras.

Every window I clean gets its screen washed and its track and sill wiped out. It is in the price. I will never quote you a cheaper number by leaving them off.

  3. 03

The price I quote is the price you pay.

I count your windows before I start, I tell you the number, and that number does not move on the day. If I find something I did not expect, I tell you before I touch it — not after.

  4. 04

Seven days of rain cover, for everyone.

If rain dirties your glass within 7 days of my visit, I come back and touch it up free. No membership required.

  5. 05

If a pane is not right, I come back.

Call or text me within 7 days and I return and redo it at no charge. No forms, no arguing.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
Colossians 3:23

Why each one is here

Every line was bought with a complaint

The window cleaners around here are good at cleaning glass. Nearly all of them have excellent reviews and I am not going to pretend otherwise. What some of them are inconsistent at is the price staying the same, the whole window being included, and somebody answering afterwards. I read their worst reviews before I wrote mine, and each line below answers one of them.

  1. What goes wrong

    A different person turns up

You meet the owner, you tell him about the cracked seal in the front room and the gate that sticks, and on the day two people you have never met arrive in a van. Nothing you said got through, and neither of them can tell you what was quoted. The reviews around here say it plainly: the person who sold you the job is not the person standing on your ladder.

    Standard 01

    The same hands, every time.

Johnny is the only person who will ever be on your property. No crews, no subcontractors, no different technician next visit. You get the same standard every time because you get the same person every time.

  2. What goes wrong

The tracks and screens were skipped

You were told the tracks would be wiped. Afterwards the glass is clean, the tracks are still full of grit, and it turns out that was never part of the service. It comes up again and again in this area's reviews, because leaving them off is the cheapest way to make a quote look lower. That is why the screens and tracks are named in the standard instead of assumed.

    Standard 02

Screens and tracks are included, not extras.

Every window I clean gets its screen washed and its track and sill wiped out. It is in the price. I will never quote you a cheaper number by leaving them off.

  3. What goes wrong

The quote changed on the day

You are quoted one number on the phone and shown a bigger one once the ladder is against the wall — and by then it is awkward to say no, because you have taken the morning off and the van is in your driveway. It is the complaint I found most often when I read this area's reviews, and it is the reason I count your windows with you before anything comes off the van.

    Standard 03

The price I quote is the price you pay.

I count your windows before I start, I tell you the number, and that number does not move on the day. If I find something I did not expect, I tell you before I touch it — not after.

  4. What goes wrong

The rain cover was for members only

A rain guarantee sounds good until you read that it belongs to a paid membership at about fifty dollars a year. Mine costs nothing and applies to everybody, first job included. If rain dirties your glass inside seven days, text me and I come back.

    Standard 04

Seven days of rain cover, for everyone.

If rain dirties your glass within 7 days of my visit, I come back and touch it up free. No membership required.

  5. What goes wrong

    Nobody answered afterwards

Something is not right, you send a polite email, and nothing comes back. Weeks later the website is still promising complete satisfaction. A guarantee nobody answers is not a guarantee. Mine has my own mobile number attached to it and a seven-day window you can hold me to.

    Standard 05

If a pane is not right, I come back.

Call or text me within 7 days and I return and redo it at no charge. No forms, no arguing.

Proof, not a slogan

A customer on the price holding

…From the beginning, Johnny was professional, attentive, honest, and incredibly responsive. If he was running even a little late, he called. He honored his original quote—something I especially appreciated after having other companies quote one price and then raise it once they arrived.

Once Johnny started working, he discovered that our window sills were in much worse shape than he anticipate. I have to admit, it had probably been 15 years since they were thoroughly cleaned! Johnny normally cleans the bottom sill, but he noticed the side sills also needed serious attention. He cleaned those too, at no additional charge!

The boundary

What this does not cover

A guarantee with an edge on it is one you can trust. Here is exactly where mine stops, so you never find out on the day.

  • Damage that was already there

A failed double-glazing seal, a cracked pane, fogging between two sheets of glass, paint or builders' residue baked on for years. I photograph it and show you before I touch that window, and I will not pretend a clean will fix it.

  • Hard water that has etched the glass

Sprinkler minerals eventually bite into the surface. I test one pane first, show you exactly how much comes off, and quote the rest honestly — including telling you when the answer is that nothing more will come off.

  • Rain cover is for rain

Seven days, no membership, no argument. It does not stretch to a sprinkler head that soaks the same window every night or a building site next door. If that is what is happening I will show you the cause, because cleaning it again next week helps nobody.

  • Work I did not do

If someone else cleaned your windows and you are unhappy, I cannot put that right for free. Call me anyway and I will tell you what it would take and what it would cost.

Hold me to it

Get your price first, then decide. If anything on this page is ever not true of a job I did for you, call or text me and I will make it right.
